Further clarifications on issues related to the implementation of the visa-free entry policy for Greek citizens
From October 15, 2024 until December 31, 2025, Greek citizens holding ordinary passports can enter China visa-free for business (M), tourism (L), family visit (Q2, S2) and transit (G) purposes for up to 15 days. Below are some further clarifications on the implementation of visa-free entry policy:
1. The time period of the visa-free policy is from October 15, 2024 to December 31, 2025. Any potential extension of the policy shall be announced accordingly.
2. The above mentioned visa-free policy is only applicable to Greek ordinary passports. If the applicant holds an official passport, he/she still needs to apply for a visa. If the applicant holds a diplomatic passport, he/she will be exempted from visa application according to the previous bilateral agreement. If the applicant holds a diplomatic passport and intends to start a long-term tenure in the Embassy or Consulate General of Greece in China, he/she still needs to apply for a diplomatic visa.
3. For business visa (M), the visa exemption is applicable only to applicants coming to China for business. Ship repairers and technical supervisors should apply for M visa. Athletes, coaches and related personnel who come to China to participate in sports competitions should apply for M visa.
4. For transit visa (G), the visa exemption is applicable only to applicants coming to China for ordinary transit purposes. Shipping personnel, sailors and others who sail with the vessel should apply for G visa.
5. Applicants coming to China for non-business activities such as academic, scientific research and other exchanges, study tours, visits, etc. should apply for visit visa (F) regardless of the period of stay.
6.Those who do not meet the purposes of visit and time limit for 15-day visa free policy are still required to apply for visa to China.
