Two-Way Postal Service
The Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Zurich offers a two-way postal service to eligible applicants in Switzerland. Applicants who reside or work in Switzerland and are exempt from fingerprint collection under the current Chinese visa policy may choose to submit their application documents by post and have their passport and visa returned to them by post once processing has been completed.
The following applicants are exempt from fingerprint collection:
1. People under 14 years old or over 70 years old;
2. People whose fingerprints have been collected within the past five years at the same Visa Application Service Center using the same passport;
3. People who apply before December 31, 2026 for a short-term visa (staying for no longer than 180 days in China).
Procedure:
1. Applicants must first submit their visa application online through the Visa Application Service Center website. Once the application has been reviewed and approved, a confirmation email will be sent to the applicant.
2. Upon receipt of the confirmation email, please contact the Visa Application Service Center by telephone or email. Our staff will advise you of the documents that need to be signed and mailed, as well as the applicable mailing requirements.
3. After receiving your documents, the Visa Application Service Center will send you the payment and bank transfer details by email. Once payment has been confirmed, we will proceed with the visa application process.
4. Once the visa has been issued, your passport and visa will be mailed to your designated address immediately.
5. The entire process normally takes approximately 10 working days from the date you first contact the Visa Application Service Center. Actual processing times may vary depending on the individual case.
Important Notice:
Please contact the Visa Application Service Center by telephone or email before mailing any application documents and follow the instructions provided by our staff. The Visa Application Service Center cannot accept responsibility for the loss of documents mailed directly without prior contact and confirmation.
Please note that, in all cases, the Chinese Embassy or Consulate reserves the right to request any additional documents it considers necessary or to require the applicant to attend an interview in person. Such requests may result in a longer visa processing time.
